So, in the end if you’re desperate, shoot over to Overclockers and get a soundcard because it’s not worth going through the hassle. I tried Realtek Digital Output as default, but that doesn’t work either.

Also if the above seems OK try uninstalling the realtek driver and allow windows update to get the proper version. I updated all chipset drivers, and scanned with Driver Detective.
